Updating…How is SIP calculated?
This tool assumes each SIP is invested at the end of the month. The nominal annual return is divided by 12, and growth is compounded monthly. Actual mutual fund returns vary. Gross SIP projections exclude taxes, fees and market volatility. A separate illustrative capital-gains tax estimate is provided.
Inflation-adjusted value
Inflation-adjusted value divides the projected maturity amount by (1 + annual inflation rate) raised to the number of investment years. The inflation rate is expressed as a decimal, for example 6% = 0.06. This represents the approximate purchasing power of the future investment in today's money.
How are LTCG and STCG estimated?
For eligible Indian equity mutual funds, each monthly SIP installment is treated as a separate investment lot. The calculator estimates capital gains on a hypothetical full redemption at the end of the investment period.
Eligible long-term capital gains are estimated at 12.5% on gains exceeding the available ₹1,25,000 annual exemption. Eligible short-term capital gains are estimated at 20%. A 4% Health and Education Cess is included in the tax estimate.
The estimate assumes the full annual LTCG exemption is available and excludes surcharge, securities transaction tax, other taxable gains, transaction charges, and individual tax circumstances. Actual tax depends on transaction dates, applicable law and the investor's circumstances.
